Obama’s
Energy
Plan =
Inflate
Your
Tires?
As gas
prices
soar and
the
economy
sours in
our
state, I
wonder
about
the
concerns
discussed
by
families
at their
kitchen
tables.
While
the
federal
and
state
budgets
expand
at a
record
pace,
household
budgets
all
across
this
county
have
not.
Here at
home,
Washington
state
government
has
exploded
33%,
blowing
through
nearly
$8
BILLION
dollars
to a $3
BILLION
budget
deficit.
How do
they
expect
to make
ends
meet
come
January?
While
the
government
bloats,
commutes
aren’t
getting
any
shorter.
The
Growth
Management
Act has
pushed
King
County
working
families
farther
and
farther
from
metropolitan
employment
centers.
A recent
University
of
Washington
study
showed
the
impact
of the
social
engineering
GMA as
being
$200,000
per home
in
Seattle.
Couple
the
lengthening
commutes
with
high gas
prices
and we
have a
real
problem.
For all
the
“progressive”
rhetoric
in
Democrat
proposals,
it sure
seems
that our
liberal
state
and
county
government
policies
are
seriously
impacting
the
standard
of
living
for
Washingtonians
of all
income
levels.
We are
left
with
little
resources
to
manage
the
current
harsh
economic
realities.
Family
discussions
have now
moved
past the
commonplace,
toward a
heightened
sense of
urgency
as we
face the
results
of
progressive
economic
policies.
Not only
do
working
families
have to
live
further
from
their
place of
employment
but it
costs
twice as
much to
get to
work as
it did
six
months
ago.
Surely
we will
be asked
to
bankroll
the
Democrats’
spending
spree
when the
bill
comes
due.
Although
we are
told
that the
unemployment
rate in
Washington
State
sits at
5.5%,
that
means
nothing
if
working
families
cannot
make
ends
meet due
to the
rising
cost of
living.
Solutions
from the
Democrats
are no
place to
be
found.
In a
tone
reminiscent
of Jimmy
Carter’s
“we can
all wear
sweaters”
pronouncement,
presumptive
Democrat
nominee
Barack
Obama
asserts
that
inflated
tires
are a
key to
solve
this
nation’s
energy
crisis.
What
does
that
have to
do with
the
$80-$100
bill
many of
us face
just to
fill up
our
tanks
with of
gas?
Without
new
sources
of
supply,
prices
will
continue
to soar
and the
Democrats
will
continue
relying
on
1970s-era
talking
points.
This
leaves
Republicans
with one
simple
message:
If you
want
energy,
you’re
going to
have to
vote for
it! Vote
for REAL
CHANGE.
Now for
the good
news.
The
Republican
message
of
commonsense
solutions
to these
kitchen
table
problems
is
resonating
with
voters.
It is
clear
that we
simply
can’t
afford
the same
old
solutions
to
growing
problems
in our
state.
Join us
on
Saturday,
August
16th as
we
celebrate
the
commonsense
principles
that
unite
all
members
of the
Republican
Party.
Come
hear
from an
incredible
lineup
of
special
speakers
and
enjoy
the free
BBQ,
bouncy
toys for
the kids
and a
softball
tournament.
All the
fun
starts
at 10am.
See you
there.
